Best Oahu Airport Shuttles
Wherever you’re staying on Oahu, you’ll very likely be at least a 20-30 minute drive from where you’re staying. If your accommodation is on the North Shore, Kahala, or elsewhere, your drive will be a bit longer.
No worries, though, there’s a shuttle that can get you there.
🌴 Private Shuttle with a Lei Greeting – to Waikiki
⭐️ 4.7 out of 5 stars
This is what we all dream about when we think of arriving in Hawaii. You’re met by your friendly driver who’ll be holding a sign with your name on it.
You and each member of your party will be presented with a beautiful, fresh orchid lei. The lei is a traditional Hawaiian symbol of love, respect, and hospitality. And they smell divine.
Stan was super courteous and very helpful. Very knowledgeable and assisted with directions. I would use them again. Great value for the money!!!

Our driver was on time, easy to locate and was very courteous! He was also patient and friendly as there were a number of us coming in on different flights. He had bottled water for everyone and gave us good info on how to navigate around the island.

🌴 Shared Airport Shuttle North of Waikiki and More
⭐️ 3.5 out of 5
In all fairness, the vast majority of reviews for this company were 5-star. Unfortunately, a couple of bad experiences brought the rating down. Not having had to travel to these destinations from the airport, I haven’t used them myself.
These shared 12-person vans will take you to accommodations farther afield. If you’re staying at the Ko’olina Resort, including Aulani, Waikiki, Kahala, or Turtle Bay, this shuttle will get you there. No, Kahala and Waikiki aren’t north, but still included.
Or if you need to get from the airport to the Honolulu Cruise Terminal, you’re in business. Your driver will meet you in baggage claim, help you with your bags, and escort you to the van. You also have the option to upgrade to a lei greeting!
As soon as I arrived at the pickup point I heard my name called. Shuttle people were easily identified and the shuttle arrived in about 10 minutes. Driver assisted with loading and unloading my bags and was very pleasant and polite.

🌴 Airport Shuttle by Kathy to Kailua and Beyond
This airport shuttle doesn’t list a rating on their website, but I can give it my own personal 5-star review. I’ve always found Kathy to be friendly, personable, and punctual, and the vehicle clean and comfortable.
Kathy will meet you at baggage claim, and deliver you to your destination on the Windward side. Whether you’re going to Kailua, Kaneohe, Waimanalo, or even Laie, this is a great transfer option.

🌴 North Shore Shuttle
⭐️ 4 out of 5 stars
This locally run service is purported to be the best value on the island. They do offer a fair price and a personal experience to go from the airport to the North Shore.
Their prices are per car for a max of four people. For groups of 5-7 people, there’s an added flat fee. On top of transportation, you’ll get insider recommendations for beaches, restaurants, hikes. They like to know that you’re going to enjoy your stay!
Hands down one of my best discoveries while traveling! Scottie provides exceptional and personalized service – it’s not just a shuttle ride, it’s a true aloha experience.

Other Ways to Get There
If you prefer to wing it, there are options for that, too.
1. The Cab:
Yes, this is what the local cab company is called. If you’re looking for a spur-of-the-moment ride into town, catching a cab is ideal.
Taxi stands are located on the centre median in front of the terminal baggage claim areas. Just follow the signs to the nearest taxi stand. A ride from the airport to Waikiki typically costs about $40-$50 and takes around 20-30 minutes depending on traffic.
2. The Bus:
Yup, the public bus is called The Bus. If you’re travelling light and want an economical option, it’s a good way to go. For just $2.75, you can catch the bus from the airport to various parts of the island, including downtown Honolulu and Waikiki.
Note that luggage restrictions apply, so this option is best if you’re not carrying large bags. Only one bag per person, size limit 22″ x 14″ x 9″, that can fit on your lap or under your seat is allowed.
Buses are frequent, and routes like #19, #20, and #31 can take you from the airport to different key locations. These include downtown Honolulu and Waikiki. Ask the driver if you’re not sure which bus you should take.
Visit The Bus’s official website for updated schedules and route maps. But trust me when I tell you, buses on Oahu tend to work on ‘island time‘. Don’t panic if the bus isn’t on schedule. Just enjoy the fabulous Hawaiian air while you wait.
3. Uber:
Uber is very much a thing on Oahu. The pick-up area for rideshare services is located on the second level (Departures) at the airport.
Fares to Waikiki range from $25 to $40 depending on the type of service you choose (UberX, UberXL, etc.) and traffic conditions. This can be a convenient and cost-effective option, especially if you’re sharing the ride.
4. Rent a car:
Of course, renting a car is another option. Rental desks are now all located right across from the baggage claim in the parking structure. No more shuttling away from the airport. Just follow the signs. You should absolutely reserve ahead, though.
Summing It Up
However you get to your hotel, you’re going to love Oahu. If you’re staying in Waikiki, make plans to see more of the island! Oahu is so much more than that small area. If you need ideas, read 57 Things to Do on Oahu.
There’s even a 5-day itinerary to help you make sure you make the most of your time on the island. Whether you’re after some surf spots, a little kayaking, or the best pastry you’ll ever eat, you’ll find it there.
And of course, don’t miss the ever-evolving calendar of events, celebrations, and sporting events across the island.
Aloha!
