Top 10 Oahu Boat Cruises: Discover the Island from the Water
Are you planning a dream trip to Oahu! You’ll want to find the BEST boat cruise!
As a Canadian living on Oahu, I loved being able to book a boat cruise any old time I felt like it. On my days off, of course – a girl’s got to work.
A boat cruise in Oahu’s waters is an incredible way to enjoy the beauty of the island from a different perspective.
TLDR? – book the Maita’i Catamaran Tour!
This 90 min tour has the most 5⭐reviews (1,008) (it’s my personal favourite!)
• it leaves right from Waikiki
• cruise to music
• buy yourself a mai tai or 2
• choose from 4 types of cruises

I learned that not all boat cruises on the island are created equally. There are a several different boating experiences in the islands – dinner cruises and booze cruises, snorkel cruises and sight seeing cruises to name a few.
I’m going to make choosing the right one for you a little easier by listing the best ones. That is, my own favourites, and the cruises with the most favourable reviews from across the internet.
My first Oahu boat cruise was perfect. I took a catamaran sail from Waikiki – sunshine, music, mai tais, and snacks. And an unparalleled view of the Waikiki shoreline. I loved it.
My next, not so good. My mom came to visit and we joined a friend for a dinner cruise out of Honolulu. The large yacht-style boat was old and dated, the food was so-so, and the entertainment was the only bright-ish spot.
I’m a firm believer that everything is better in Hawaii, but if you’ve got limited time, you don’t want to end up with a dud. These one are worth your time!
The list is based on, not only on my one person, one experience opinion, but the average of the overall ratings I gathered from around the internet.
If you’ve done a cruise of your own, or end up doing one of these, get in touch! I’d love to hear what you thought!

Why this cruise:
- Unlimited Pacific Rim cuisine and buffet dinner

Our plan for our visit to Waikiki was to make our final evening in paradise special. We were not disappointed… The Mai Tai was delish (and offered both with or without alcohol). The buffet was well orchestrated with a goof selection that included chicken, fish, and roast beef carving station. The show represented a taste of different countries in Polynesia. 2 hours on a luxury yacht and a beautiful sunset.

This is the cruise for you if:
You’re looking to experience one of the most well know boat cruises available on Oahu. You’ll be greeted with a choice of a mai tai, with or without alcohol, to kick things off.
You can indulge in well put together unlimited buffet dinner. The selection’s impressive, ranging from local seafood to expertly carved roast beef.
The evening includes an authentic and entertaining Polynesian show with some fun audience participation. The dancers wear beautiful costumes, and they perform dances that tell stories from various Polynesian islands.
After you’ve had your fill of the buffet and the performances, you can make your way up to the wrap-around panoramic decks. The view of the sunset over the ocean from here is breathtaking.
And if you’re cruising on a Friday, you’ll have an extra hour to catch the Hilton Hawaiian Village fireworks—it’s a dazzling way to watch them.
Remember, though, parking can be a bit pricey at around $21, and if you want a fresh flower lei, that’ll be extra too. Honestly, I found the ship’s decor to be dated, and the food disappointing. But hundreds of others disagree.

This is the cruise for you if:
You want something different from the usual boat trip. The Pink Sails crew is young, but skilled and professional. They make sure everyone has a great time and stays safe, and they’re great with kids.
The cruise starts from Waikiki just as the tiki torches start lighting up for the evening. You can hang out on the netting at the front of the boat, catch the breeze, grab some snacks, and maybe get a drink from the bar.
The music is fun, but the best part is jumping into the ocean for a swim. There’s a slide and a floating mat that the crew puts out in the water, and floatation devices for the littles.
You’ll be back on the boat for sunset. It’s a great backdrop for photos, and the crew can help take some shots and tell you a bit about the island too.
Once the sun’s down, you’ll head back to port. This is your time to relax, sip a beverage, and revel in the beauty of the island.
The crew really puts in the effort and looks after their guests. It’s totally worth it and might even have you booking a second trip!

You’re up for taking a sunset cruise while enjoy great food.
You’ll set off from the Ala Moana Blvd Pier in Honolulu as the evening starts to cool down. The boat will fill with a max of 100 people – it’s cozy but not “cattle-car” crowded.
You’ll head along the Waikiki shoreline all the way to Diamond Head, and as the sun sets, the whole scene gets a beautiful golden glow.
Dinner is something special here because it’s all cooked fresh on the boat. No reheated buffet food. You’re meal is made by a chef right there in the onboard galley. Think restaurant quality fare.
You can even bring your own drinks if you’d like a cocktail. The mixologist can help you turn it into something fancy at the Tiki bar on the upper deck. It’s a pretty great set up.
The crew really makes the experience. They’re friendly and genuinely seem to enjoy making sure you have a good time. There’s soft music playing that sets a relaxing tone without overwhelming the natural sounds of the ocean.
After dinner, sit back on the upper or lower level and watch as Honolulu starts to light up for the night. It’s so peaceful, and with the city lights as a backdrop, it makes for a pretty memorable evening.

This is the cruise for you if:
You’re looking to step away from the usual beach crowd and do something a bit more adventurous on the water.
This is a newer and less well-known cruise. I’ve included it because of the excellent reviews it has so far, and the variety of activities and pick-up options it offers.
Head out from the Ala Moana Blvd Pier, or be pick up at various locations, for a few hours on a comfortable catamaran. It’s equipped with everything you need for a fun day.
Like the other cruises, this one takes you along the beautiful Oahu coastline. If you’re into energetic activities, you’ll love the water slide, the high jumping platform, and the water trampoline.
You can even snorkel in crystal-clear waters where there’s a good chance (no guarantees!) of spotting turtles and colorful fish.
Or if you’d prefer something a bit more laid-back, grab a kayak or a stand-up paddleboard and explore at your own pace. It’s pretty cool to paddle around and take in the views from the water.
And, there’s no rush; you can switch between activities as much as you like.
Snacks and soft drinks are included, so when you need a break, you can grab a bite and maybe a drink. Remember, it’s BYOB, so you can bring your favorite alcoholic beverages – no glass.
The crew on this cruise is top-notch. They’re not only super friendly but they also really focus on safety, which is great especially if you’re bringing the kids along.
After a day packed with water adventures, you’ll head back to the meeting point or get dropped off at your hotel, with some great memories and stories to share.
